WASHINGTON — Women’s March leader Linda Sarsour was among the left-wing activists arrested Tuesday for interrupting the confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Sasour entered the hearing room in the Hart Senate Office Building just before 9:30 a.m. EDT. She sat quietly with other anti-Kavanaugh activists until the hearing opened, at which point she loudly rebuked Republican lawmakers and urged them to adjourn. Judge Brett Kavanaugh on Friday moved a step closer to being seated on the Supreme Court, as four days of chaotic and tumultuous hearings wrapped with Kavanaugh largely having swatted away Democratic attempts to derail his nomination. Democrats spent the week trying to catch Kavanaugh in a lie and employ old emails to cast him as a radical conservative. But Republicans say they believe Democrats failed to land a fatal blow. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said he had no doubts “whatsoever” that Kavanaugh would ultimately be confirmed.
Kavanaugh will be confirmed with 51 Republican votes and 4 votes from dems who crossed party lines due to being up for reelection in red states.
