A Magic Word
Nowell

Don't let dark, dreary forces drag you down.
Don't let ill-natured Others make you frown.
Remember every single Lovely Thing
That impels your heart most urgently to sing.
Each depressing enervating thought
Uttered by vexatious spirits fraught
With ugly, agitating, bitter things
Must be countered by a heart aloft on wings.
Resist the fiends who'd drag you down to Hell
Resist by singing joyously "Nowell!"

Nowell! Nowell! Nowell!
Nowell! Nowell!
Born is the Infant King
of Israel!

Merry Christmas!

  2. _______ On Christmas Day _______

On Christmas Day the King of Kings is born
New each year since first appeared the Star.
    Children breathlessly await the morn,
Hope for gifts, not knowing that they are
    Royally endowed with rich rewards
    Internally. because our God above
Sent His Son, the tiny Lord of Lords
To demonstrate the power of His Love.
Mammon calls, and parents feel they must
    Afford material delights that glow
    Seductively inflaming vicious lust
Denying Mind and Spirit’s need to grow.
A trough not fit for kin that nourished kine
Yields again the King of Love Divine.

  3. A Christmas Sonnet from Santa Claws

Merry Christmas one and all today.
Ululate with joy, sweet anthems sing.
Elevate your spirits. Praise the King
Lying newborn on His bed of hay.

Lambs lie down with lions at His birth
Eastern Magi come to bring Him gifts
Rustic, humble scene the spirit lifts
In awe as angels tell us of His worth

    Splendidly transcending earthly cares
Altruism fair has come to reign
    Transforming duty’s dulness into pleasure.
    Understanding grain excels the tares

    Realistic vision saves us pain
    Doubtless yielding comfort beyond measure

  7. _____SSAMTSIRHC YRREM _____

So, once again the Savior’s Birth draws near,
And once again we feel an Obligation
Much to spend before another year
Takes us to the Brink of Desperation.

Salvation offered freely as a Gift?
    It surely has a catch in it somewhere;
Rarely do The Powers give a Lift ~~
Happy as they seem to strip us bare.

Christmas comes to change all that, however,
Yet so few can clearly see the Road
Reaching far beyond what’s merely clever
Revealing heaven’s Peace to each Abode.

Each challenge met with hopeful Attitude
Makes a cheer-filled Life defined by Gratitude.
