Senate and White House negotiators reached an agreement early Wednesday morning on a $2 trillion stimulus package to help businesses and families affected by the coronavirus epidemic and to bolster the economy.
The agreement clears the way for the package to sail through both houses of Congress on its way to President Trump. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin told reporters that Trump will sign the bill as soon as it reaches his desk.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are done. We have a deal,” Eric Ueland, the White House legislative affairs director, announced at around 1 a.m., after five days of tense negotiations between leaders of the two parties and the White House. . . .
Americans are growing more concerned over the state of the American economy than that of their personal health, a Harris Poll released this week revealed.
The survey, fielded March 21-22 among 2,023 U.S. adults, found that a majority of Americans, 61 percent, now consider the amount of fear in society as “sensible given how serious the [coronavirus] pandemic has become.”
That reflects a 15-point jump from the 46 percent of Americans who viewed the fear as warranted last week.The survey also reviewed the issues people are “increasingly concerned about” and found that concerns over the economy surpass all other worries, . . .

Joe Biden DESPERATELY wants to be President . BUT his response to this VIRUS crisis is to hide away from the public, and say no! He could be a big help to bridge the political divide and help get tis important stimulus bill done. But, it seems to me he is not up for the moment. His time has long past. I suspect the DNC will ditch him soon. ReplyDeleteAs as for the frar of the Corona virus, people tend to learn to live with familiar dangers and to exaggerate the risk of those that are new and unfamiliar. As you point out, the regular flu has killed far more people this year than has the new virus yet most people don’t bother getting a flu shot even though they are inexpensive and often free of charge. The more familiar the danger, the less the perceived risk. Of course those with the least understanding of viruses are the most easily panicked. I saw a poll that indicated many people stopped drinking Corona beer out of fear of the virus.
I’m also seeing the virus is exposing hidden racism and a whole lot of ignorance. Chinese businesses are really hurting, and hurting badly, because people are refusing to go to them. There’s a very good one right near the place where I live at, and another Chinese restaurant across the street from that one. Lots of people used to go to both of them for lunch and for dinner , because they both are really very good. . Now, they are driving out of their way avoiding them because of the virus.
Somehow, people think this virus somehow magically transports itself from China to infect Chinese people in the middle of America. They are Pathetic. There hasn’t even been a confirmed case in our town yet. ).
People will jump on any excuse to justify their actions, whether its Trump Derangement Syndrome or Racism or some other form of stupidity. . It reminds me of people who, in fear and ignorance, killed cats during the Black Plague, believing the cats were evil and causing the disease. Then there is the possibility that Easter is a bit optimistic and it will be 2-weeks after Easter until "some" people get back to work.., and that the economy will recover. But we are wishing for the best.

If the Democrats want the new green deal they can push for it after the pandemic is over . The Democrats need to realise we must tackle the needful things first . President Trump is cut out of the same cloth as Patton, a brash genius with an equally controversial personality who never backs down from a fight and doesn’t takes any prisoners, and is never afraid of a fight. . The lefty liberals are terrified when confronted by his style of leadership. Where as someone like Joe Biden, or Andrew Cuomo, Michael Bloomberg, Pete Buttigieg, Cory Booker, or Beto O’Rourke, who were more like a modern day Gomer Pyle. Even Gomer Pyle was a lot smarter than some of them.
Much like General Patton, our President is always on the front lines to lead, and inspire the country’s citizens, and in this case the medical community as well.
And he is always there to calm, and reassure the fears of the Country’s citizens, and his base. We are very fortunate to have someone like Trump at the wheel during this time of crisis.
President Trump has done Great things for this Country.. Iran, Russia, China, and many others don’t Crap allover us like they did before. And putting up that the Wall is already paying for itself .
These things also will pass. Imagine how these people would manage if we had a real shortage of essential things, and services like electricity, TV, water, food, or even Cat Litter.

The object is to keep as many companies in-business as possible, and therefor get our economy starting up again. .

Or, keep the economy and businesses shutdown until the coronavirus over, or at leat is under control, even if that means that many businesses would NOT re-open due to the lost revenue and their going into bankruptcy.
That’s a tough one, and I think that I’ll let the experts decide what’s best..Still we can't stop working much longer or the economy collapses.
but I do agree we cannot keep our entire country on lock down much longer.
What we could do is open stores, and malls, at certain hours and most stores could open with minimal staff. Offices, and government agencies can open with a minimal staff;
Restaurants can open with tables spread out to 6 feet distances, and every other bar stool kept empty.
Airlines can open with a sparse amount of seating, like the bars, every other seat would be kept empty.
The United States MUST get back to business sooner rather than later.or we will be in Deep Do. Do..
There is no reason why a Restaurant in Cos Cob. Connecticut cant open if they didn’t have a single case of the virus there. There is no need for the people there to “Stay at Home”.

Not onl President Trump to step up its propaganda attacking the United States by spreading deliberate lies about the pandemic outbreaky did they LIE to the world, but Chinese Presiden Xi Jinping refused any help from the United States, and the rest of the world, to prevent the virus to spread. They did not close its borders to prevent carriers of the virus from transmitting it outside of their country or from the affected area They kept the problem silent and they refused to sound the alarm.

Some two weeks later, China locked down Wuhan. It was then that Washington showed any concern about the coronavirus!

The Coronavirus has spread to more than 177 countries, claiming more than 30,000 lives according to the Center for Disease Control More than 10,000 in Italy alone, and even more right here in America. All because of the Chinese government’s arrogance, and their incompetence to be able to tell the truth.
Until President Trump stepped up and stopped ALL incoming flights from China from spreading the virus, and their deliberate, and disgraceful. lies about the outbreak of the Coronavirus!
When our stores and stadiums are empty and our cities look like ghost towns, consumer spending came to a halt, the lifeblood of the economy lessened by hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars. It got to the point that we needed to quarantine people who are not sick so that we can stop the spread of this horrible virus..
