In my patriotic view the fourth of July is to celebrate our independence from Great Britain. It is to celebrate the beginnings of our experiment in self government and the republic which our founders gave to us. It is to celebrate families living in a free society with individual liberty only constrained by the laws enacted by the elected representatives of the people.
ReplyDeleteIt is NOT to celebrate the military might of the nation. It is not to glorify or celebrate war and destruction. It is not to celebrate our president.
I for one find Trump's planned glorification of our military might and destructive power to be most inappropriate on July 4th. As well as the politicization of our military for political purposes.
That aside, have a great Fourth of July Franco.
