I reported an Illegal to police the other night in New Orleans and had him hauled off to jail. He was working at a local restaurant on South Carrollton and the bartender ratted him out to me. It made me feel just and patriotic. He was the third I've turned in and had arrested in 3 years. I plan on stepping up my efforts, and getting those Scumbags out of the country.

ReplyDeleteIn Jesus' time it was a common belief that great wealth was a sign of God's favor and poverty was God's punishment for sin.
Some Old Testament verses do reflect the idea that poverty is a natural consequence of foolish actions (Proverbs 6:9-11, 20:13, 23:21).
However, Jesus denied that wealth is a sign of God's favor or that poverty is God's punishment for sin. This is shown most clearly in His Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). At least part of the reason the rich man ended up in hell was because of his hard-heartedness toward the beggar Lazarus. His great wealth was obviously not a sign of God's favor. The beggar Lazarus ended up in heaven although he was about as impoverished as a man could be. His poverty was obviously not a sign of sinfulness or foolishness.
Despite the Bible's many warnings against it, the idea that wealth is a sign of God's favor and that the poor have done something to deserve their condition persists as an undercurrent today that is sometimes used to justify a callous attitude toward those who are poor.

WE have never said that poverty is God's punshment for Sin, nor have we equated the acquisition of weath with virtue.
WEALTH is like Fire, Water, Electricity, Atomic Energy, Machinery, Food and Weaponry. Its value depends ENTIRELY on how WISELY, how CONSTRUCTIVELY, and how CHARITABLY it is USED.
What WE have always advocated was RESPECT for Money and Property, and the establishment of an enlightened CHRRISTIAN approach toward the USE and CONSERVATION of wealth.
I especially like this part of the large article you quoted:

I happen to be modestly rich, and am tremendsouly grateful for my good fortune. A good deal of the joy I take in America's burgeoning prosperity under the brilliant leadership of President Trump is reflected in the health and strength of my own portfolio. and real estate holdings
My greatest joy, since prosperity cam to m fairly late in life, has been in the ability my abundant store of wealth has given me to be able to help people I know and love to fulfill needs that could not have been met without my lovng assistance.
Touting one's virtues is vulgar and ungodly, but let me say I have bought houses for friends in need, take no rent from them, pay all taxes incurred myself, and have arranged in my will to leave these properties free of charge to those who've lived there during my lifetime.. I have bought vehicles for people who would not otherwise have been able to get to work I have paid fuel bills for a few families with yung children who could not afford to heat their houses in the dead of a northern winter. I've made it possible for a few deserving children to go to good private schools by paying their tuition, because the children involved were smart, beautifully behaved, and deserving of every good thing that could come thier way.
I feel no GUILT whatsoever that I have been blest with the means to live beautifully in a fine house filled with treasured antiques and family memorabilia, nor do I feel PRIDE in what I do for others. I only feel GRATITUDE that I CAN do what i do.
Of one thng I AM abslutely SURE, however, if I were not modestly rich, NONE of the considerable amount of help I've been able to give would ever have hbeen accomp\lished
And IF, –– as I believe people of yOUR particular mindset would prefer –––, I DIVESTED myself of EVERYTHING I OWN, and joined the homeless in the streets the only result of that would be MY ruin. And if you want to believe destroying MY rank and privilege would HELP anyone less fortunate than I, I've got a beautiful white columned edifice at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.
