We All Should
Wish Them Well

For all the quips and jibes and taunts
And brutal castigation
This First Family's image haunts,
And begs new valuation.

Both elegant and wholesome
This group radiates great charm
We should feel proud
They reached a goal some
Tell us did no harm.

Their image, lean and lissome,
Does great credit to their race.
To know them might be bliss. Some
Feel an urge to kiss each face.

The father’s been a failure
Many say with unchecked bile.
Rated as the Holy Grail your
Welfare class adored his style.

Conservatives despised him
And insisted he must fail,
While the the Left who idolized him,
Thinks the Right belongs in jail.

And so we’re now divided
Many saying we’re at war
With those we have derided
Thus forgetting what Life’s for.

Although his leftist stance
Has been essentially perverse
We should not want to dance
Upon his grave. That make things worse

By deepening the chasm
That now between us yawns
We kill enthusiasm
Thus darkening all our dawns.

So please try to remember
Barack with charity;
His legacy’s an ember
Now. Let’s pray Trump sets us free.

  1. Nicely put. They are a model American family. Although a little name-calling can be useful for getting a point across every now and then, the ad hominem has gotten way out of hand, and much of it directed at the Obamas was downright racist and sickening.

I did not like Obama's policies, and his wife seemed to revel in ripping off old scabs and fomenting race and class resentment. Making the case for that is much more effective than hurling personal insults.

    1. Thank you, S;ver. YOu my be one of a very tiny minority who GET the POINT I am trying to make.

The virtual LITANIZING of hateful remarks directed in copious abundance at those with whom we disagree polityicially, philosophically, and ideologically has done –– and continues to do –– great harm to the way do business, the way we treat each other, and to our furue prospects, because once BLIND RAGE supplants REASON we more and more closely resemble rabid wild beasts than civilized human beings.

Hence my anti-BOILERPLATE, anti-PARTISAN SCREED position.

    2. None fueled political divisions like our former POTUS, and none did more to make permanent these divisions through their institutionalization and application within the halls of the Deep State.

      FUCK BHO!

    3. That's PARTLY true, FJ, –– in my opinion, however, the ENEMEDIA has had as much or more to do with fomenting the present DISEASED mental climate than Obama, himself, although I am not now, and never have one of Obama's fans.

HOWEVER, the POINT in attempting to adopt a more sober, reflective, charitable and conciiatry tone has nothing to do with "Who's to Blame?"

Instead, it has EVERYTHING to do with healing the deeply entrnched division MINDLESS BIGOTRY and SPITE from BOTH Left AND the Right have perpetrated and perpetuated.

We are –– to put it mildly –– STUCK on STUPID, and cannot implement a CONSTRCTIVE AGENDA in any way as long as we remain mired in stale HATE-INSPIRED rhetoric, and vindictive, purely partisan IDIOCY.

    4. The Right isn't censoring and shutting down liberal websites. Black Pigeon Speaks got banned from YouTube today. Blogger will be the next battleground. And yours will be the first blog purged.

  5. As great as it would be IF the wounds could be healed, and it IS a BIG if, I really don't see that happening again. Ever. And like you Franco I assign the lions share of the responsibility to the opposition party. IE, the Republicans. Which is NOT to say the Democrats are blameless.

Frankly I suspect that before this nation sees another 240 plus years it will disintegrate. Probably the result of violent social and civil strife. The seeds have been planted and both Republicans and Democrats are supplying sufficient water.

  6. Outward appearances can be deceiving -- in fact, are often deceiving.

1 Samuel 16:7 warns us as follows:

[T]he Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

The resulting story of Saul sends a strong lesson. He was a very handsome man, but took his nation down the wrong road.

We could choose MANY examples from both literature and history that echo something quite similar: that is, DISASTROUS results often follow when one judges by outward appearances. If I'm not mistaken, Hans Christian Andersen used that theme in some of his fairy tales.

Now, back to our time in history...

I have difficulty wishing well for ANYONE who undermines the founding principles of our nation.

In many respects, BHO worked -- and still works -- to undermine the principles of our republic. Like HRC, he is an Alinsky-ite. And his wife is a "black power" adherent. Never mind her good appearance and sometimes dulcet voice.

And BHO's legacy lives on in our schools, K-graduate level. I have myself seen the continued promotion of the Cult of Obama in the various reading materials.

    1. The above is not to denigrate your poem, Franco. It's quite an excellent poem. I can recognize excellence even if I do not agree with the sentiments expressed therein.

    2. I understand your feelings, AOW, and I don't really disagree all that much, BUT here's the "method" in my madness:

I am trying to adopt a more charitable tine toward our ideological and political enemies NOT so much for THEIR sake as for OURS.

As you'v noted, I'm sure, I had ERADICATED almst ALL the "contributions" that came in for good reason.

FIRST they violate our clearly stated Rules, Guidelines and Standards of Decorum.

SECOND: Because ALL of those cmments deleted qualify as "BOILERPLATE" –– ritualized, hate-filled "SCREEDS" and PERSONAL ATTACKS thattell us nothing new, and make no attempt whatsoever to respond to the CONTENT of the POST.

As I've said over and over and ove for lo these many many years: "I'D RATHER BE ALONE than in UNSUITABLE COMPANY."

  13. Blogging really is a thankless task, isn't it, FT?
I always find something to like and enjoy about your daily posts. You have a good heart and a terrific sense of humor. It shines through even when you're being deliberately provoking. Apparently that gets by an awful lot of people, though. Too bad! They don't know what they're missing. I especially get a kick of of the way that you address Shaw as Ms. Shaw! Too bad that she doesn't have the good heart that you have.

  18. While Democrats whine about how we should have compassion on illegals, they set up butcher shops all over the country to kill and chop up babies.

Democrats are sick, twisted, lying, and cruel, and should go to hell.
