simply have an HONEST BELIEF in a
loving, all-powerful GOD?

4. Are you a MERCY FREAK and a GRIEVANCE JUNKIE,
or do you simply have a KIND HEART
and a GENEROUS DISPOSITION?

5. Are you a GLUTTON, or
are you a GOURMET?

6. Are you a SEX ADDICT, or do you
just
have an AMOROUS DISPOSITION?

7.
Are you a GREEDY CAPITALIST PIG, or
just a PROSPEROUS MIDDLE-CLASS
PROPERTY OWNER who
loves living well?

8. Is the THOUGHT fATHER to the DEED,
or is it the other Way ‘round?

9. Are you a “WORKAHOLIC,: or do you

    2. None too much!

Anything, even a virtue, taken to excess, becomes a vice.

    3. I see. I understand what you mean, although REAL virtue, –– as opposed to AFFECTATIONS of virtue for show and ultimate self-aggrandizement ––, are two different animals, as I'm sure you understand.

I don't believe that there could ever be too much of TRUE virtue. It is The Pearl of Great Price in human affairs.

A paradox emerges with the understanding that in order to become TRULY virtuous, one must first act as if one already were truly virtuous.

You could call that "affectation" if you like, but when pursued earnestly in an honest quest to improves one's character, and be a better person the "act" becomes a vitally useful tool in attaining the Real Thing.

Or so Experience has taught ME. What it may have taught others is anybody's guess. I learned long ago that I can only speak for myself.

    4. No, virtues "oppose" one another. Temperance "opposes" Courage. Wisdom "opposes" Justice. Once you have too much of a virtue, it becomes a "vice" ie - Courage become Brashness. Temperance becomes "Inaction".

    5. The "wisdom" of Solomon was to divide the baby in half. Would THAT have resulted in actual "justice"?

    6. I think you've been subjecting yourself to far too much "French Thought."

      Please stop.

It's a Siren Call to SUICIDE.

    8. All right, but as Shakespeare said,

There's nothing either right or wrong, but THINKING makes it so."

In my never humble opinion Too Much "Thinking" foments Doubt, Confusion, and Indecision.

Some in modern parlance have called that "ANALYSIS PARALYSIS" as good a term as any I should think.

    9. We have the choice either of THINKING ourselves into a state of misery and suicidal depression, OR we can PRAY ourselves into a state of serene confidence in a basically benevolent God who can and WILL lead us to Salvation IF we lay our troubles and feelings of perplexity at His feet.

      YES WE CAN! ;-).

What is "Salvation" in my understanding?

      INNER PEACE.

  4. Thought provoking post. Too bad it didn't spark some good comments (Kid excepted. His comments are always good.)

Unfortunately, we are living in the Cartoon Age. No logic, no reason, no subtlety of thought. Pick a side and start screaming across the trenches.

    1. It does look that way, Silver, but I shall leave this up for at least two more days.

Unfortunately most people either CAN'T or WON'T bother to TRY to THINK anymore.

Sorry I had to go into moderation, but the Churls and Dive Bombers were at it with a vegeance, and I will not have that here.

Call me anything you like, but I'm not in favor of Free Speech for vandals, jackals, gangsters and thugs. PERIOD!

As I've said many times, "I'd much rather be ane than in poor company."

Thank YOU for being an understanding friend lo these many years.

  5. YET-ANOTHER PROVOCATIVE QUESTION SOMEONE OUGHT TO WANT TO ANSWER:

Why Do Progressives Reject Policies That Would Achieve Their Aims?

    Frontpage Magazine

    by Bruce Thornton

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Sesame Street) has delivered yet another statement that bespeaks the progressives’ chronic myopia. This time she’s pondering the dilemma about whether or not it’s “still okay to have children,” given the apocalyptic future being created by climate change. The point has nothing to do with demography, as birth-rates in the U.S. are already starting to decline. The real point, of course, is to rouse the old progressive battle-cry of a “crisis” that “urgently” needs resolving, mainly by increasing the power and rapacity of bloated federal agencies and their growth-killing regulations. ...

  6. A jolly good thing it is that rightwing conservatism doesn't have power continuously. Another dark ages again we do not need.

    1. A meaningless assertion, because you did not DEFINE "righwting conservatism" before you condoned it. This makes us doubt you have any idea what you are talking about.

Worse than that you didn't even TRY to address ANY of the questions and implications I posted.

As for "Dark Ages," what could possibly be "darker" than the dreariness, deprivation and morbid levels of oppression found in Collectivist Dictatorships and the neo-barbarism fostered by the falsity of Marxian-style egalitarianism?

  7. Hey libtards?...if Hillary really won in 2016 like you have been claiming since 2016, then why wouldn’t the DNC let her run again?...the Russians did not steal the election and the more the left pushes it the worse the payback will be for them at the polls in 2020..
