That Mifsud guy is just one example. Nothing wrong with any of it; it has always been common knowledge that's how it works.
The damaging information coming out is not that we have these sources all over the globe, but rather, that our agencies pressed these people into service to, in some cases, attempt to lure low-level Trump campaign people into illegal activity.

The claims against Professor Mifsud
The unsealed court document says that Papadopoulos first met Mifsud in Italy in March 2016, shortly after he joined the Trump campaign's foreign policy advisory team.
The document says Papadopoulos "acknowledged that the professor had told him about the Russians possessing 'dirt' on then-candidate Hillary Clinton in the form of 'thousands of emails'" during meetings in March and April last year.
Yes. No knock on Mifsud--he's just an academic who also happens to do some light work for the US intel community.

It's clear. they set up a "sting," luring him with bait proffered by Mifsud. This is the same way the FBI baits would-be jihadis here in the US.
