The Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me
an instrument of Thy peace:
where there is Hatred, let me sow Love;
where there is Injury, Pardon;
where there is Doubt, Faith;
where there is Despair, Hope;
where there is Darkness, Light;
where there is Sadness, Joy.
O divine Master, grant
that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life.
Amen!
… St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) ...
Boy do we need those words today...
ReplyDeleteWas there ever a time when they were not needed?
DeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteThank you, gentlemen. Thank you both very much.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to be gracious when others are cursing and spitting on you. You're a better man than I, Franco.
ReplyDeleteFJ,
DeleteBeing gracious has its rewards. Sometimes, anyway.
I am far from being Roman Catholic. But I have great veneration for St. Francis of Assisi. Anyone who loves animals as much as St. Francis has a Godly soul.
ReplyDeleteAmen, I agree, Marmee...being a lighthouse in the darkness requires; fortitude, courage and patience. As the storms of Hell rage ever stronger, may we be a lighthouse, built upon, THE ROCK!
